The mystery of the magical glasses

The entire life I have been looking through a pair of spectacles sometime magical and sometime rosy, but mind you the search has been continuous to get that 6/6 eye sight. All fellow bespectacled people out there would know what I am talking about. My first pair of glasses were prescribed to me as early as at the age of five. But I became a regular bespectacled personality by the time I was 12. For as long as I can remember I used to complain about a headache and this did not go down even when I started wearing my magical glasses regularly. The condition was under control though for sometime, then again the axis will change and yet another new pair had to be ordered. So came my first pair of photo chromatic glasses. This was a major breakthrough. It would really soothe the light around me especially during harsh summer months and would find me squinting less.

One good thing happened by regularly viewing through the magical glasses that I was cured of astigmatism. I could not believe the great fortune as now I could use soft lenses and did not have to squint through the spectacles with skewed vision as that's more or less what happens when one suffers from astigmatism in lay man's language. Not to mention the added fashion quotient of sun glasses could now be mine by wearing soft lenses. But my happiness was short lived. The grueling working hours in advertising did not help the cause, as after 12 hours at a stretch the eyes will go dry and the nagging headache will come back to haunt me. Moreover like my brother I could never get used to the discomfort of having a pair of foreign body in side my eyes. It really would feel strange.

So I was back to square one trying to find that one pair of frame first which would sit the prettiest on my nose. Then came the glasses to fit the frame. This was another world all together. There was regular lenses, photochromatic lenses, high index lenses, transition lenses, anti-glare lenses, and what not. The list is endless. During this mammoth hunting for that perfect pair I just gave in and settled for the photochromatic lenses serve both the purpose of regular vision and rosy vision in the sunlight. But down in my heart I missed my fashion statement a lot. I guessed Bono is to be blamed for that, wearing dark glasses always made you mysterious as proven by many others but Bono somehow made it indispensable. It is more than a fashion statement, it is the way I want to see the world... rosy and magical I suppose. So since yesterday I have been feeling quite like Alice not to forget the fact I am not humming those famous lines anymore "I still haven't found what I am looking for".

owe owe....sore subject there dear. I got my glasses when I was in class VI...when i couldn't take down notes from the blackboard anymore..
Unfortunately, my eyes are naturally dry, so wearing contacts for a long period of time never worked out for me.
Adding to my misery is the fact that my power is around -5, which makes the lenses very fat. So i ave to buy plastic, ultra thin lenses to make them wieghless and they cost a ton and scratch a lot. Also have to buy frames to match the weight.......and the list goes on. And i do this once every year.
This year i tried to get photochromatic, because until a few years ago, i was prescribed tinted glasses and light hurts my eyes. Guess whats the cheapest quote i got for photochromatic thin plastic glasses?- 24,000 (my lenses usually cost the highest of 3000)...I tried 6 lense stores and gave up...Got myself a powered sunglass (they cost me 2500..heh heh)
Recently, in a movie hall, me and my hubby both got confused by a dialogue and turned towards eachother simultaneously, and managed to hit my glass. So they are in a funky agnle. Tried to get it fixed, but no one will do it here..it seems doing that break the glass.
Sighh....man people with 20/20 vision don't know what they are missing!

well.. at least you know what you're looking for.. even if you haven't found what you are looking for...
half the time, i know i've forgotten something, but i just don't know what it is...
thank heavens that there is a cure to your eye problem..
however, i'm yet to find a cure to my memory problem....
at least a few things help.. the lotus notes calender is a big boon... so are address books..
but what the hell do you do when you meet someone on the road and talk to him.. you know him just too well.. you remember everything you did together.. every restaurant you went to eat out together.. and then when you ask the phone number of the guy.. you don't know his name and don't know how to store it.. so you just say.. "gadhe.. main tera number gadha bolke store kar raha hoon.. " :P
