Weekend Gala
As of today I am officially out of the Durga Puja syndrome. Every Bengali barring a few go through the festival spirit madness every Durga Puja and then suffer the veritable blues. But today the newspapers made me smile. Delhi will be less crowded as loads of people are going to enjoy their time on the mountains, which means no traffic snarls. Awesome! I am so happy I planned to stay in.
But then there is more to my happiness. This weekend will be a super treat for cine goers in Delhi. The Embassy of Japan and Japan Foundation is organising a retrospective of Akira Kurosawa's work. Five films from the master will be screened over 3rd and 4th October in Siri Fort Auditorium. For an under exposed Philistine like me that is equal to a winning the jackpot. So if you are in Delhi this weekend you must try and catch some of these masterpieces at Siri Fort Auditorium. Kurosawa on big screen, wow! What's even better it's for free! So no worries about buying tickets or collecting passes etc. Just come and enjoy some great cinema.
Don't worry if you are not a "serious cinema" or "world cinema"fan there are interesting releases from two very successful directors too. Since Kaminey I have not ventured to see any Hindi flick but this weekend I am definitely going to catch, David Dhavan's, "Do Knot Disturb" and Karan Johar's "Wake Up Sid". So looking forward to a cinematic weekend. Wish you all a very happy weekend.

the very fact that these are mentioned in the same post as Kurosawa leaves appears a bit BIZARRE to me.. but enjoy the 'film time'
