Shocked, appalled and disgusted!
The horrors of India, Paris, Bangladesh in the recent times makes me feel nauseous. What started with a fatwa started the 100 years war. But this is pushing it just too far! Yesterday's killing of blogger Avijit Roy in Dhaka makes me angry. Very angry now.
Why are we so scared of the written word? What can be so scary about writing that we have to kill for it? Because the pen is mightier than the sword, is it? Then bring it on. Who gives you the right to kill? You are all criminals in garb of disgusting fanatics! Is your beliefs so fragile that a written word can destroy them? Then probably it is questionable in the first place. Can't we respect each others' thoughts in this time and age? What makes you feel killing is the only answer? How many of us will you kill? The answer is simple we make you think. Thinking is not your strength I get it! I am Perumal Murugan, I am Charlie Hebdo, I am Avijit!
We will keep writing. Come kill me now because I write. There will be hundreds and thousands more. Let's see how many can you kill and be forgiven. We will pick our pencils, pens, quils and keep on typing. Let's see how you get the better of us. I am Avijit and there are thousands of us in this world who will keep on writing. Your dastardly, heinous crimes will only leave us more resolved and determined. Be warned!
