Stay Happy
This year I will usher in the first decade of Y2K in Kolkata. As a matter of fact I will be doing that exactly after a decade . Last time I attended a New Year Eve's party here in Kolkata was on 31st Dec 1999. So I definitely am observing a change in the pulse and mood of the city. People have been talking about nothing else but the New Year Eve party for the last 10 days!Keeping up with the holiday ritual 25% of the Kolkatans are out of the city making merry and those who are stuck here are busy planning the special 31st party, the news papers are all galore about the most happening dos in the town and Kolkata is going to party with vengeance.
But why such frenzy? I guess we are in hurry to forget a sad sad 2009 desperately. The global economic recession, spiraling prices, ensuing tension between neighbouring countries, mayhem in parts of the state and north east and now South as well, global warming all put together it was a complicated year in the life and times of average Indian and "Bangalee bhadrolok" too. I started receiving New Year texts and cards since the beginning of December. So everyone hopes to have a better 2010. We are ready to bend backwards in making it a better year than 2009. Amen to that! Together I am confident "we can" Mr. Nobel President!! But the question is will we?
Less than 24 hours remain to usher in 2010. Time for resolutions I think, most of which will remain unfulfilled though. But why do we need resolutions after all if we do not care to stand by them? Largely because we vouch to be better each new year. So there is still hope for us and hope for the world as we only make this world however good, bad or ugly (but still the peace prize went to someone for inspiring HOPE). I so sincerely "hope" someone will catch the most wanted man on this planet and Af-Pak region can see the drones pulled out by 2011 summer. I so wish!
I think resolutions are good even if we fail to keep them it at least it is an indicator of how we would like to see ourselves, (our leaders too have them written them somewhere I am sure but sadly they forget them even faster than us) so what if we miss an inch here and there, but surely we will get somewhere closer to our goals. Well, don't worry I am not going to talk about 'goal - setting' now, no this post is definitely not for such HR mantras, there are high caliber professionals to get all that sorted out for us and they are getting fat salaries for doing that so I an going to stay away from that. Didn't you know there is no such thing as a free meal ticket in this world? Of course you do so why bother!
On the contrary my journey is very selfish and inward. For me it is more like finding the stream of air current to soar high, strong and full of inspiration. Some of us are better at inspiring others and some of us get inspired. But for me it is always important to stay inspired and that is what I am going to focus on in 2010. How about you readers?
Wishing everyone a happy, peaceful and less eventful 2010.
Stay inspired. Stay Happy.

Hey I loved reading this blog twice...:)
Yes ….FRENZY…. because we want to move ahead into 2010 with more positive outlook and with plans for the future rather than thinking about the bad things happened in the past. We Human Beings believe in the wonders of Hope.
Well about taking Resolutions, it all depends on the individual whether they are really serious about them or not. But one thing positive I noticed about such resolutions’ Hype is that some small kids as young as 5-6 year olds are taking a Pencil & paper and jotting down their plans for the coming year and they are promisingly serious too. That is the kind of inspiration we all need.
Anyways I wish you achieve all the things which you are looking for in the journey…
Wish you all a very happy New Year…I Wish it brings all the success as well. :)
P.S: I could not understand why you ended the post with a wish of less eventful 2010 ;) :p…
Hope is important, and I'm glad that we have a year come to an end, so we can wish for a better year to come - we all need it. Some more for political reasons, and some for private reasons.
All the best to you!
Monika
I hate making resolutions.. They are just a waste of time.. I know I am going to break them anyway, so why make resolutions.... I'm more like Garfield...
Or like the cat in "Red Dwarf".
@ WH: Wish you a very "Snoozy" 2010 and it doesn't hurt to be resolute too! I know sometimes impulse works better than resolution as I have seen in people around me and that definitely is great.
