Unforgetable vacations!
It's been ages since I blogged, mainly because I have rediscovered the joy of writing with a pen in my favourite diary. I personally believe very soon the art of writing will become extinct as we get more and more enslaved to everything electronic, may it be the computers, laptops or mobile phones. When was the last time you actually wrote a letter to a friend or a dear parent? Can't remember right?
Anyway when I heard a dear dear friend plan in all earnest for her next vacation the whole weekend my mind started to wander unconsciously to all the places I have been over the last five years. The memories came cascading back to me. Considering the present complexities of my little planned life in the next few months I find it utterly impossible to slot a vacation anytime soon. Christmas will be the earliest it looks like. So I did the next best thing possible, took a trip down memory lane. As she is planning a trip to Spiti obviously the first thought that struck me was the beautiful Kinnaur Valley, the closest that I have been to Spiti.
Sarahan, Kalpa, Chhitkul evokes such great memories. The gateway on top is the gateway towards Tibet, this gateway is at the end of Chhitkul village in Kinnaur valley and Tibet is 180 kms from here. The ITBP has a post some 40 kms away. We just strolled 6 kms towards that direction at a leisurely pace and came back as the sun set.
The majestic Kinnaur Kailash watches over you and as the night falls a serene quietness takes over. We went in May and the preceding winter it had not snowed enough plus the rising impacts of climate change was strongly visible.
The mesmerizing light still shimmers in my mind even though it was in 2006 May that I went to this quaint Kinnauri village.

On by the way, it was great hearing you have started writing the conventional way. I always found it the best. Somehow, i rather grab a paper and pen when the idea bites, rather then boot up the PC and launch word!!
