The Truth Will Survive!

No matter how you try to keep us down we women won't go away quietly!
Try and kill us and we will come in hundreds and thousands and millions till you
Try and shut us up a multitude will rise
Like it or not women remain the driving force of the universe
Without us there is no future for either race, religion, gender, language, nation, planet.
Life is a SHE
Better accept it and grasp it with all your heart
In return SHE will award you joy, fearlessness, strength,
Try to subjugate her fury will flush the whole universe away!

What happened in Hyderabad on Friday afternoon is not only shameful it is a completely unacceptable. India prides itself for its democratic ways hit the rock bottom of civility when MIM (Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) MLAs tried to assault renowned Bangladeshi author Tasleema Nasreen. For Ms. Nasreen this was not new. She has fought many battles in her life, starting from her own life as a journalist to the international voice on feminism across the sub-continent and beyond. She was shocked as we all are when we see mindless attacks on civilians in the name of either development or politics in all parts of the world including India. Delhi 1984, Babri Masjid 1992, Godhra 2002, Nadigram March, 2007, Khammam July, 2007 makes our blood boil. She has been our voice and spoken for us when no one else had the courage to do so and to assault her her ein India is like assaulting all Indian women. We don't take it lightly at all.

Do not think for a moment that such heinous crimes will go unfought. Women will rise and speak out and let me remind you all Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Tasleema will keep on writing. There is no stopping this Utal Hawa (Restless breeze). She has no Lajja (Shame). And she will avenge (Shodh).

Mother Earth. That’s what we call our planet isn’t it? In spite of all the ravages that we plunder on her, she continues nurturing. At times when the going gets really tough for her, she also tries teaching us a lesson or two. Some of us shape up some still need more lessons.
We who are lucky to be of the equal gender carry on the same traditions no matter what role we play. That’s intrinsic to us. We act out different characters to this world stage. We are soft, we are loving, we are understanding, we also endure a lot and we are patient. But don’t take us for granted. For when we do get livid we become Durga. We will abolish the erroneous

yep! truth will not only survive but also win.
though i have many reservation about tasleema nasrin and cant equate the hyderabad attack on her with those on babri or at godhra or nandigram and the like, what i admire is her guts.
again, all these attacks cant be delinked, be it on an individual -- man or woman -- or a group, becoz all of them are the manifestation of the same intolerance. the root is unfounded hatred which these attackers never question. it is this organised form of "civil" hatred that really bothers me. and it's increasing at an alarming pace, invading all spheres of our life.
let her write what she believes in. she has stuck to her conviction so far. whether i like all of them or not,i salute that spirit. if u dont like them, dont read. but pls let me and the rest to decide for ourselves what we wld read.
i know it's difficult for the society to do that, a society ( men and women alike in many cases) which always asks women to "pay" a greater price for speaking their mind, in each case tagging them as "subversive"!!! but what to do! the poor society has to accept it. if a woman has a mind of her own and if she is not bothered about the so-called acceptance, she will always speak out -- loud and clear. by trying to control her too much the society has lost all power over her. they are still few in number but they are there. better accept them. attacks dont demoralise her. actually that makes her tougher, bolder! congrats!
btw, i dont know if life is only SHE. i always find HE to be actually very smart, having secured a shelter from the beginning in S-HE. Cheers to that!!!

Illusions, I hardly think the attack on Taslima was about her being a woman. It was purely political and to a lot extent fanatical and as such needs really no justifiable reason in the minds of those who orchestrated it.
What really struck me was the fact that the state government denies any knowledge of her coming. So some one somewhere slipped up with security. And it would very naive to think that "such things don't happen in our city"..... It happens every where with the right amount of instigation. And I think we have come to expect such behavior from our political leaders by now (and what does that say for us?)and i was not even shocked to read about it! I would rather have been shocked if students or any other sensible folks of this city tried to do so.

I think such attacks simply lend more credos to the person who has made a stand so far and paid for it. I am not exactly a fan of Taslima’s writing, but she is entitles to her opinion and freedom.

On the note of subjugating the woman, I would say we women ourselves have created much of the social norms that stand in our way. That saying I am not absolving the He’s of their chauvinism here. But then it really takes MAN to realize the worth of a woman right? For those who chose to hold on to some man better then woman thought, well they go through their life never knowing what they missed out in their relationships with the fairer sex. I pity them. And also will not hesitate to use cast iron frying pans on any man who tells me I am lesser! 

I am just reading Kasturi’s comment and I think she pretty much said it for me too.
