Connections...
I am known to be a gregarious person. But it is never a one sided action, it takes a definite opposite to interact. All through the continuum of life I have been blessed with great people around me. Every twist and turn on the inroads of life bring a host of experiences, some we enjoy and move on and some we savour, like old wine or moulded cheese. The second kind of rapport we definitely share with our parents, with age it gets better. Well friends had always thought of writing about you great guys who make my world rock but never got to it but have decided this is the one I just have to key in no matter that the chicken on the hearth dries up...
Then there are those which are inexplicable and need not be mulled over and over again with...these are the ones which stay on for a lifetime or several lifetimes as a matter of fact. A friend is the one who spared you time and not money (may be sometimes that too). You always know your friend, from that first hello, there is never a figment of doubt. I still remember very clearly how I met a boy with a sweet smile in the school corridors who showed me his scrap book with pride and then made a serious critique on mine, which I took note of and improved it several times over, and still after 20 odd years he just does the same. Although he never leaves a comment on my blogs but always drops in a suggestion or two in writing better...well that he believes I can do better and that makes me beam always! Any time of the day or night he can be reached if I am in trouble or just need a sounding board. He is this constant person who does things out of the way to help me in a very special way. His gestures to help me in taking care of my parents long distance has been truly my strength to focus on life.
One very significant friend who made me fly and has been the wind beneath my wings has never ever claimed so much as a vote of thanks, that to me defines friendship. Till date whenever I mention the same all she can say...yes yes all that is fine but listen there is this something I need to talk about with you...and will shy away from accepting the fact that she has been a true inspiration.
Then there is Meowow, without whose encouragement I would never have had the courage to pen down even a single line. Well she did it just by egging me to it. Then there are two very colourful characters who are like the night and the day in temperament but somewhere in sync who have stood by me in good and bad times. Always ready to help, so much so when I had a cold feet on my wedding day both of them took turns to dissuade and persuade me simultaneously literally leading me to the alter.
Then there are those who bring the sense of home and haven to you. They embrace you in warmth of their goodness. No matter how tough is the going they just keep you warm with their sensibility and strength and protect and guide you and you know that the North star shines for them. I am truly blessed as I have known them everywhere I have travelled...near or far.
In this ever changing world they are the constant source of strength that makes me believe. Believe in the impossible, believe that I can be. Believe that it is not a bad world afterall and good things do happen to good people. They make me a better person each passing day. Thank you my friends for making me believe.
Thank you my friends for making me feel so special. I feel truly blessed because you are here.

Although I can't say I recognize life long friends in the first glance. I drove my best friend nuts when i first met her by talking incesantly. And I am sure our friendship wouldn't be where it is now, if we didn't share the same Dorm room for a year. You share personal space with someone and come out not hating that person? - sure recipe for lifelong friendship ;) I tell you.
Someone once told me a friend is someone you can think aloud in front of. (I think he was quoting Emerson here but never mind) What do you say Illusions?
I still hold my ground that friendship is independent of personal space. The connection that I talk of is more of heart and minds and not anything else and that is precisely the reason why we value friendships over and above riches of other denominations.
The way your friends make you feel cannot be bought with all the frankincense's, gold and myrrh the world has to offer. It is precious than the most precious, treasured than the richest treasure and beautiful than the most ornate of things of the world.
But I guess even if I did the inspiration bit by myself i could not have had the courage to finally write them out had you not egged me. The counter egging is for my own selfish interest as I love to read your blog every now and then, kind of keeping snatches of your perspective with me wherever I go and I shall continue to be utter selfish in the act and continue to do the same in the future as well. :) No respite you see!
On a serious note, I say life has handed lemons in many turns, but it has been generous in giving me good friends. If a may be allowed metaphor - in the soccer field of life, my friends have been the players, leading me (the Ball ofcourse) towrdas the goal. At this point everyone is encouraged to do a mexican wave in the honor of feienship and crazy metaphors.
Here is to nagging friends, whose egging bring the creative devils out of us. :)
distances have not withered the strength or the continuum of the friendship. we always know somehow what the other one is going thru. i cherish that implicitly
