Life's secret recipe
Ma, mom, aai, amma, ammi all mean the same mother. If you are a daughter and live away from her you know how she still holds that magical bond with you no matter how many physical miles are between the two. Mother is the source of life, a continuum, a meaning to life's perennial mystery.
I for one can't start my day if I don't speak to Ma in the morning. My mobile bills keeps reminding me that I have almost maxed out my credit limit and payment must be made immediately and no extra point for guessing how did that happen! Well, yes I am guilty of still being attached by the invisible umbilical chord to Ma. Those 9 months that she carried me and the 38 years that she cherishes me with love is the most unconditional relationship of life. A relationship where she has been most patient with a very slow daughter like me who takes kind of aged to get going. In today's world it is called a "starting-up problem" and then we are termed as losers. But sorry to disappoint the winners, although my Ma is totally aware of the fact but has never loved me any less for that.
Many dreams I have been unable to fulfill, sometimes I have tried to best of my ability and sometimes not, but she has always been there, rock solid watching and smiling through it all. Whenever I stumbled and faltered she would be the first to extend a hand. Her strength is what makes me keep going every passing day. Some of my friends have kids of their own and I see them do the same for their children and I know one day the young ones will realize how much they owe to their mothers. Motherhood is probably life's secret recipe for love, patience, peace and harmony.
